You may have already completed a rehabilitation or recovery programme for anorexia/bulimia, alcohol or drug abuse. Possibly you have experienced a relapse, or you may be in need of encouragement or emotional support. You know who you are. You may have had this idea of joining with others, but wondered whether you will cope or manage in a group situation. Maybe you feel you’re not ready? While you are excited by the thought of becoming stronger, more positive about life and what it has to offer you, you still feel vulnerable and uneasy about opening up to others. This is where I can help.
Nothing new and amazing can happen when life is confined to a cage, although this offers you a kind of comfort zone. Stepping out may seem risky, but this is where real adventure starts and it’s totally worth it! At my support group meetings you will find the encouragement you need to turn up the heat. Sharing frustrations can make us feel stronger and our problems more manageable. Compelling stories are not only encouraging, but also enabling, as they motivate us to find and pursue our goals. We may face setbacks, but this is what helps us make it in the end. It’s not about where we start, but where we finish. My group sessions and training, together with a sense of belonging or community it offers, will help you cut through the issues crippling you. It will transform you, help you to become more confident, to focus on what is important in your life, to stand tall.
Training is something I am passionate about, capturing years of discovery and experience, focused on how to achieve self-worth and agency, a proven formula on the road to recovery. The mission behind support group meetings is to bring people together who want to pursue a vision bigger than themselves. Every new member adds meaning to our discussions, has the potential to transform lives because of the insight and experience each individual brings to the group meetings. I guarantee it will do it for you! There is no risk in joining. The monthly costs are very affordable and amount to little if this is a way to actively help you find a better place, enjoying the things that matter most. You can cancel at any time. I offer both daytime and evening sessions in order to accommodate everyone. Don’t put the decision off, moving forward often requires us to confront our fears. We deal with fear by refusing to give it decision-making authority! Believe you have the strength to accomplish what you set out to do. Adopt a mindset of possibility!

“I am so thankful to be alive and was indeed lucky to have had Joan as my psychological counsellor. Having been lost in anorexia’s black hole of nothingness, Joan never gave up on me, her commitment to my journey will always be treasured by myself and my family”.
“Joan’s appreciation of life and all things beautiful convinced me that I too can live without ongoing chaos caused by alcohol controlling my life. The journey to let go was hard with many setbacks. Joan’s ongoing commitment to my journey is what pulled me through. I can stand back in appreciation and look how far I have come, knowing I will never ever go back to where I was.”
“I am so grateful I took my daughter to see Joan when I did. Joan has a very unusual way of working with young people. She connects with them at a very deep level and gain their trust right at the start. After only one session with Joan I could see the difference in my child. She was smiling again after a very long time! “
“Four years after I lost my first wife I decided to remarry. It was hard for my children aged 10 and 12 to accept some-one new. Always sensitive to our difficulties, Joan assisted us individually and together to build and strengthen family ties. She supported us in the healing process and enabled us all to move forward.”
“By treating me not as a patient, but as a person – as a friend – Joan gained my trust, and I valued what she had to say. She showed me ways of getting back in touch with myself. Ways of getting to know myself again. I now have plans for my life. I have dreams and ambitions and I feel I have potential”
“We experienced relationship problems, causing our marriage to suffer. We contracted with Joan for a few sessions. Joan has a heart for people and a passion for what she is doing. Her friendly, yet professional manner of dealing with people is something which comes very naturally for her, something which immediately made us very comfortable with her and really impressed us. It was a pleasure for us to work alongside Joan.”
